Cream Cheese + Brownies = Winning Combo.
When it comes to brownies, there are so many options if you want to mix it up a bit. I love a plain and simple brownie, but it’s also tons of fun to try out new combos with different candies and flavors. One day soon I may whip up a batch of brownies and add in all of the leftover half-bags of baking candies and chocolates that have been accumulating in the pantry. Yep. That sounds like a really good idea.
This batch of brownies was special without taking it too far over the top. I made a basic brownie recipe and then swirled in a cream cheese mixture right on top. Finish it off with some chopped pecans, and we are golden. 🙂
To begin, I mixed up the cream cheese mixture. In the mixer, I whipped together softened cream cheese and butter, and then poured in sugar. When the mixture was nice and fluffy, I added in an egg and a little bit of flour.
Now, on to the brownies!
As we all know, you can’t have brownies without chocolate. 🙂
I melted the chocolate with some butter on the stove and then poured it into the mixing bowl. Then, I gradually mixed the granulated sugar into the chocolate.
I added in the eggs one by one and then poured in milk, vanilla, and almond extract. To finish the batter, I mixed in a combination of flour, baking powder, and salt.
YUM. Before putting the brownies in the oven, I spooned the cream cheese mixture on top and swirled it around with a spatula. This part really was fun. I just wanted to keep on swirling! I tossed a few chopped up pecans on top for a nice crunch, and the brownies were ready to bake.
Slice and dice a little bit.
The cream cheese added great flavor to these brownies and the marbled effect looked great. I will be sharing these over at Fiesta Friday, so be sure to swing by later!
I also have some exciting news today…. The Little Blue Mixer has 100 followers!!! Woohoo!! Thank you all so very much for your love and support. Y’all are the absolute best, and I’m so glad you love baking as much as I do. 😀 Thank you, thank you, thank you.
