Summer Special Week 5 – Nutella Ice Cream

Everybody come running this is a good one…

In this weeks experiment with ice cream making, we have Nutella Ice Cream. The results are super tasty and I recommend you make this one.

This time aroundΒ we have moved away from all this cooking eggs whites, chilling, and then freezing. We are going back to basics, and things are much better. A very simple list of ingredients for this one.

The Little Blue Mixer | Summer Special Week 5 - Nutella Ice Cream

Combine the milk and sugar in the mixer. After doing some reading on Nutella recipes comingΒ out very sweet, I decided to keep the sugar content low.

Heavy cream, vanilla, and salt are next to join the party.

Give everything a good mix and then add the condensed milk.

Now it is time for the good stuff. Add in the Nutella and mix until well combined.

Yes, you should lick that whisk.

I did have an issue with the freezer portion of this recipe. It only slightly thickened up while running. I’m not sure if the freezer only being half full is causing this issue, or if if the ice water is not getting cold enough. Anyway, after letting the freezer run I poured the mix into containers and tossed it into the freezer. Despite these issues, the result is super tasty.

Yum. This is very rich and creamy. After spending the night in the freezer the ice cream separated slightly. So, I recommend letting it sit out on the counter and then giving it a stir before enjoying.

I think it would be too sweet with more sugar, so I am glad I went with half the recommended. As far as improving the freezing operation, I will have to keep working on that. You could give it a try in your ice cream freezer or even just freeze and stir with the real freezer.

Thanks for sticking with us and hope you enjoy this one. (We do, it will be mostly gone when you read this.)
